TV4 Kalla Fakta has made ten trips on the ferry over a seven-day period. On all occasions, the ferry has been powered by diesel generators. According to the shipping company, the agreement with SL does not require the ferry to operate on electricity, and the batteries are maintained according to the supplier's instructions.
"It's extremely serious. If they say this runs on electricity, which is the best option for the climate in shipping, but it actually runs on diesel, it will have a much greater climate impact," says Kristina Östman, head of the climate and legal department at the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, to TV4 Kalla Fakta.
