The recommendation was issued on Thursday as a precautionary measure after a suspicion that groundwater may have leaked during a switching operation, reports SVT Dalarna.

There is currently no information that the water is dangerous, but the municipality still urges residents to boil all water that is to be drunk or used in cooking for safety reasons.

Samples of the water have been taken, but the analysis is delayed and the recommendation is therefore valid until Monday.

The urban area of Avesta has approximately 16,000 inhabitants.
