The warning applies to Gävleborg's northern coastal area, including Hudiksvall and Söderhamn, from 11 a.m. on Thursday until 2 a.m. on Friday.
The rain area has already settled in and larger amounts of rain are expected to fall during the day. Between 40 and 60 millimeters are expected, then there may be variations within the area, says Linus Karlsson, meteorologist at SMHI.
A rain area will also pass through other parts of Sweden during Thursday and in some places, including eastern Svealand, it may cause heavier showers.
"You can definitely say that it's an autumn rush day in many parts of the country," says Linus Karlsson.
However, the weekend may offer some glimmers of hope for those who want to avoid crouching under the umbrella.
The rain area will then move on and we will have a Friday and Saturday with restful weather. On Friday it may be partly sunny or at least there may be gaps in the cloud cover, especially in the south.
However, a new low pressure area is approaching before Sunday with another area of rain. It therefore looks like the autumn weather is here to stay, although it may be a bit of every-other-day weather for the rest of the week, according to Linus Karlsson.
Generally next week looks to be quite mild. Slightly milder air will come in from the southwest at the beginning of the weekend, but there will still be occasional days with passing areas of precipitation.
