Parts of the mountain range in Västerbotten, Norrbotten and Jämtland entered the season on August 1, according to SMHI's definition.

It's earlier than usual.

For the mountains, it usually arrives somewhere in mid-August, says meteorologist Max Lindberg Stoltzto P4 Västerbotten.

He gives the example of the Stekenjokk weather station. There, it is the first time since 2017 that autumn has come as early as this year.

It has actually been the case that summer has not come to parts of the mountains at all, but rather that it has gone directly from spring to autumn, says Max Lindberg Stoltz.

Meteorological autumn occurs when the average daily temperature is below ten degrees for five days in a row. However, the earliest date that autumn can be declared is August 1.
