380 authors and organizations have come together and are demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Among the signatories of the appeal are authors such as Zadie Smith, Ian McEwan, and Irvine Welsh, writes BBC. The writers highlight that Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, as well as the UN's Council for Human Rights, have classified Israel's warfare as genocide.

The authors are calling for emergency aid to be distributed immediately in Gaza, under the leadership of the UN. They also want to see a ceasefire that guarantees security for Palestinians and the release of the remaining Israeli hostages, as well as "thousands of prisoners held in Israeli prisons".

If this does not happen, the signatories of the appeal are demanding that sanctions be imposed on Israel.

At least 54,000 have been killed in the enclave, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. Israel launched an attack on Hamas following the terrorist attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, which claimed 1,200 lives. Hamas also took over 250 people as prisoners.
