Uddenberg, lecturer in psychiatry and empirical philosophy of life research, became known above all for his popular science books, not least his biology history "Ideas about life", for which he received the August Prize for the best non-fiction book of the year 2003.
Among his many titles are also biographies of Gustaf Retzius and Sven Hedin. His most popular book, however, became "Old man with cat" – a personal description of the cat Kissen, a stray cat that moved into his house and became his friend.
Book publisher Stolpe states that next year they will publish Nils Uddenberg's very last book "Polar explorer", a biography of Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld, in 2026.
