Quadruplets Emily, Harriet, Alexa and Catherine were born from the same egg by caesarean section at 28 weeks.
"Identical quadruplets are estimated to occur in one in 15 million pregnancies, but the fact that they also share the same placenta is unprecedented," says Dr. Alexa Bendall at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a press release .
At the same time, she describes this type of pregnancy as associated with an "enormous high risk."
"Every day that our miracle babies grow stronger is another answered prayer," writes mother Jenitar Sau Na'amoana on social media.
The family already has four children and is now trying to raise money to buy a bigger car.
