"I apologize unreservedly for the comments," Albanese wrote in a written statement on Monday.
It was on a comedy podcast last week that the prime minister was asked to choose from a number of Australian entertainment figures whom he would consider “sleeping with, marrying, or dating.” At first, the prime minister tried to avoid answering the question, but eventually relented.
“Oh, Kylie, of course,” he said.
“Would you marry Kylie, sleep with her, or date her?” asked host Nikki Osborne, to which Albanese replied, “All of the above.”
The comments were quickly criticised, with one member of parliament describing them as injudicious.
