Frankcom was one of seven workers from the aid organization World Central Kitchen who were killed in April 2024 when their aid convoy was hit by an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously admitted that the military “accidentally” killed the volunteers.
On Wednesday, however, the Israeli military announced that it would not proceed with criminal investigations into the deaths.
“This decision does not meet the accountability standards we expect,” Wong said in a statement.
Australia will summon Israeli Ambassador Hillel Newman following the announcement.
