The Oscar-nominated star Austin Butler gets the role as Patrick Bateman, the main character in Bret Easton Ellis' novel from 1991. Christian Bale played Bateman in the film from 2000. The new film will not be a so-called "remake" of the old one, but the script is based on the book.
The director is Luca Guadagnino, who has previously made, among other things, "Call me by your name". The novel follows a narcissistic stockbroker who is also a serial killer. The original film and also the novel take place in the 1980s, but it is unclear whether the remake will do so.
Austin Butler was Oscar-nominated for his role as Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's film from 2022.
