August lift for Swedish hotels after record summer, industry group says

Measured by the number of hotel nights, the increase in August was 3 percent, but when prices were raised - an average of 9 percent during the summer - revenue increased by 12 percent, according to Visita.

Gothenburg stood out with a 25 percent increase in hotel revenue in August.

"A strong month of events," writes Visita.

The organisation refers to figures from the analysis platform Benchmarking Alliance.

For the whole summer, the number of occupied hotel rooms in Sweden increased by 4 percent, while revenue rose by 12 percent. The number of guest nights for foreign visitors increased by 14 percent, while the increase was 3 percent for Swedes.
