The information about an Ebola virus vaccine came from the AU's Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). According to its director, Jean Kaseya, there are a couple of possible candidates for a vaccine.
"Our leaders are ready to invest. We are already investing at technical and strategic levels to make sure that happens," he told reporters.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus traveled to the area on Thursday.
"I want to be with you at this time. You should know that you are not alone," he wrote on X.
