The man had smashed a vase on the back of the head of a 76-year-old man who had also lived there previously. He was then sentenced to closed psychiatric care. But after two weeks, a chief physician and the administrative court determined that he had stabilized and was healthy enough for outpatient care.
He was then placed in a treatment center where he later carried out the stabbing. In February, he was sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for attempted murder.
