The attack occurs hours after Israel issued evacuation orders for large parts of the city in southern Lebanon. According to NNA, it involves several air strikes, at least one of which hit an apartment building.
According to Israel, buildings belonging to the Shia militia Hezbollah were attacked, reports Haaretz. The military also claims to have attacked weapon depots and observation towers.
The military's spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, warned residents in the designated area of impending attacks in the morning.
"You must immediately move outside the marked area and head north of the Awali River", he wrote on X along with a map of the city.
Earlier on Monday, at least seven people were killed in an Israeli attack on central Tyre, according to Lebanon's health department. An AFP journalist on the scene describes it as an apartment building "collapsing like a pancake". Several others are reported to be injured.
