World number two Jannik Sinner got cramp and withdrew and tennis legend Novak Djokovic vomited during his match. After high heat and high humidity in China, the ATP tour is now considering introducing a heat rule, reports the news agency Reuters on its website.

During the initial rounds of Shanghai Masters, it has been up to 30 degrees in the evening and high humidity.

It's brutal when the humidity is over 80 percent day after day, especially for the guys who play during the day in the heat and sun. Then it's even more brutal, says the 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic is advancing to the round of 16, but vomited during his match against the German Yannick Hanfmann. The title defender Jannik Sinner interrupted his match in the third round on Sunday. The Italian was affected by cramp.

Six more players have interrupted their matches due to either illness or injury.

At Grand Slam tournaments and the women's WTA tour, there is a heat rule which, among other things, means that matches can be cancelled, but something similar is lacking on the men's ATP tour.
