Before Tuesday's meeting in Prague, Sparta had only lost two of their 13 latest matches in the European Championship, while Atlético Madrid had only won two of their latest eleven away matches in the Champions League.
But in the meeting in Prague, Sparta didn't stand a chance, and Milan – with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the stands – won with tennis figures after having been 2–0 up at halftime.
Julian Alvarez and Angel Correa each scored two goals, the latter scoring his goals with a four-minute interval at the end of the match.
Sparta Prague has now lost three matches in a row and is in the lower part of the table with four points. Atlético has nine points.
Slovan Bratislava reduced to 2–3 against Milan in the 88th minute, but a red card to Marko Tolic a few minutes later ruled out the chance of equalizing. Tolic was warned for a tackle and then received another yellow card when he confronted the referee.
Slovan is still without points, while Milan now has nine.
