Athletics World Championship Begins in Tokyo as Duplantis Seeks Qualification

Night to Saturday, Swedish time, the Athletics World Championship in Tokyo gets underway. The world's best pole vaulter Armand Duplantis will qualify and Perseus Karlström is chasing a medal in the heat in the 35 kilometer walk.

+ Walker Perseus Karlström is chasing a medal in Tokyo. The Swede took bronze in the 35 kilometer distance at the World Championship in Eugene 2022 and has a silver in the World Championship context, on 20 kilometers, from Budapest 2023.

+ Pole vault star Armand Duplantis has two consecutive World Championship gold medals, 2022 and 2023, and is now starting the hunt for his third career World Championship gold medal outdoors.

+ It's a Swedish-filled start to the World Championship. In addition to the previously mentioned, thirteen national team athletes will make it to the National Arena to start the championship adventure in Japan. For shot putters Wictor Petersson and Jesper Arbinge, a final may be waiting as early as the same day.
