Middle-distance runner Aurore Fleury is suspended for six months and fined just over 30,000 kronor for placing bets on competitions during the European Athletics Championships. Two discus throwers were also suspended for the same violation at last fall's World Championships.

Fleury bet 2,000 euros and won 5,000 euros at the European Athletics Championships in Rome 2024. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has sentenced the Frenchwoman to a six-month suspension - which ends at the end of February - and a 3,000-euro fine. The money will be donated to charity.

German discus throwers Henrik Janssen and Steven Richter have also been sentenced to three-month suspensions. They placed bets totaling 100 euros and 40 euros respectively during the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo last fall.

Janssen participated in the discus final, which was won by Daniel Ståhl.
