The attack targeted a vehicle in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon.
"A number of soldiers, including an officer, have been killed in an aggressive and barbaric Israeli airstrike," the military wrote on X.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun says on X that there are a total of three fatalities, two officers and one soldier. He calls the attack a “flagrant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty.”
The Israeli military (IDF) confirms the attack and says it believed it was targeting a Hezbollah vehicle.
"The IDF is reviewing the incident, and lessons will be learned accordingly. The IDF is fighting the Hezbollah terrorist organization, not the Lebanese army," it wrote on X.
