Ukraine Says It Attacked Russian Oil Refinery in Ryazan Region

Ukraine's military says it has attacked a Russian oil refinery. Russia launched several deadly airstrikes on Ukraine overnight, The Kyiv Independent reports.

Russian authorities said on Thursday morning that an oil refinery in the Ryazan region in western Russia had been hit in a drone attack, Russian state news agency RIA reported.

Ukraine confirmed that it had launched a drone and missile attack on the refinery, AFP reported. No deaths have been reported.

Makes demands despite silence

The attack on the facility in Russia was the first since US President Donald Trump claimed on Sunday that a limited ceasefire had been reached, under which energy facilities would not be attacked. Russia neither confirmed nor denied the ceasefire but has attacked several energy targets in Ukraine.

On Thursday, the Russian government in the Kremlin accused Ukraine’s attack on the refinery in Ryazan of “being at odds with peace attempts initiated by the United States,” AFP reported.

In a post on X, the Ukrainian Navy said it had destroyed six Russian Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bombers at an airfield in Borisoglebsk, in the Russian border region of Voronezh, overnight. The aircraft are used by Russia in its attacks on Ukraine.

Several dead across Ukraine

In Ukraine, at least three people were killed in Russian attacks on Kropyvnytskyi in the Kirovohrad region overnight on Thursday. Logistics hubs and industrial buildings were among the sites attacked, according to the region’s governor, Andriy Raikovych.

Further east, in Dnipro district, two people were killed in Russian attacks on residential areas, The Kyiv Independent reported.
