Witnesses told AFP news agency that fighting broke out near a school as members of an Israeli-backed militia tried to abduct suspected Hamas members. The site was then attacked by Israeli drones and rockets.
According to the Ministry of Health in Hamas-controlled Gaza, at least ten people died in the ground fighting and attacks, and dozens more were injured.
The Israeli military says it will investigate the incident, which occurred at a refugee camp in central Gaza.
At least 723 Gazans have been killed and over 1,900 have been injured in Israeli attacks since a ceasefire began last October, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, figures the UN considers reliable.
