At least nine people in Kazakhstan have died after being swept out to sea during a naval exercise on the coast of the Caspian Sea, the country's defence ministry said.
According to the ministry, a total of 19 people were swept out to sea. Rescue efforts are underway and three people have been rescued from the water.
The accident was caused by “a sudden deterioration in weather conditions,” according to the Defence Ministry.
