The attack came hours after Sudan's regular army broke a siege of the city by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary forces, according to an army source.
The bloody civil war between the regular army and the paramilitary RSF broke out in April 2023. The war has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced 12 million people, leading the UN to classify the conflict as the world's worst humanitarian crisis at present.
