Police responded to the shooting in the New York borough at 10 p.m. on Saturday during the National Day celebration, the New York Police Department said.
Four children aged six, seven, twelve and 14 were injured. In addition, two women, aged 25 and 21, and two men, aged 37 and 33, were injured.
The condition of the 21-year-old woman is critical, but the others are expected to survive, according to Police Chief Jessica Tisch.
She said that a person wearing a black mask fired shots into a courtyard where a family had gathered to barbecue. A firearm has been found, but no one has been arrested yet.
