46 people have died in a traffic accident that occurred during the night towards Wednesday on a motorway in northern Uganda.

Two buses are reported to have been involved in the accident. One of the buses made an overtaking maneuver and collided head-on with a truck.

Deadly traffic accidents are common in Uganda, where the roads are often narrow. According to the police, many accidents are caused by drivers driving too fast.

In earlier reports, there were reports that 63 people had died, but that figure has now been revised downwards by the police.
