Floodwater from the Brahmaputra River has swept away homes and forced hundreds of thousands of people to seek shelter in government relief camps. According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, those affected are being provided with food and other essentials.

The effort to rescue stranded residents continues.
