Rescue efforts are continuing for survivors among hundreds of damaged or collapsed buildings about a day after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the island of Flores, causing widespread devastation in eastern Indonesia.

During the night leading up to Sunday, it became clear that at least 47 people had died and 13 were injured as a result of the earthquake and aftershocks, according to the BBC.

Another earthquake struck on Saturday, with a magnitude of 6.9, off the island of Sumatra in the western part of the country. It is still unknown whether anyone was injured as a result of that quake.
