The attack took place on Wednesday in the village of Bafwakoa.
The military said that many people were killed and 44 houses were set on fire in connection with the attack.
The rebel group ADF, which is said to be responsible, emerged in neighboring Uganda and has sworn allegiance to IS. The ADF is repeatedly accused of massacres in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu.
