A drone struck at around 8pm on Monday in the town of Nyala, which the RSF paramilitary forces have made their stronghold and alternative capital. At least 21 people were killed, according to witnesses and other sources. More than 40 were injured.
At least one source said there are usually many RSF soldiers at the market, but it is not clear whether any of the dead were soldiers.
Both the RSF and its counterpart, Sudan's regular army, which is based in the capital, Khartoum, are accused of numerous war crimes against civilians in the devastating civil war that has raged since the spring of 2023. Both sides send drones against cities on the other side, resulting in many civilian deaths.
