At least 15 people have been killed in at least two drone strikes on several vehicles in North Kordofan over the past two days. All of the victims are said to be civilians, including five women, and several of the vehicles were transporting water, according to the human rights group.

The airstrikes come as deadly fighting breaks out in the region.

Testimonies, human rights groups and the UN warn of a bloody offensive with the risk of mass abuses led by the paramilitary RSF against civilians in the state capital, El-Obeid.

El-Obeid is a key junction between the capital Khartoum and the Darfur region. Sudan has been plagued by a bloody civil war since April 2023.
