At least twelve people have died as a result of widespread forest fires in northern Algeria, local authorities say.
Rescue workers are struggling to contain up to 70 ongoing forest fires across the country, and a large number of people have been forced to leave their homes.
On Wednesday, two people had died, but the death toll was recorded overnight.
