At least 11 people have been killed in the explosion in Deir Ezzor in the eastern part of the country. The cause of the explosion is unknown, according to the ministry.
There have been several explosions in Syria in the past, including at weapons and ammunition depots. Earlier in September, an explosion occurred in the northwestern part of the country, killing at least 14 people.
