The accident occurred when the bus went off the road and plunged into a ravine near the town of Molleturo in the southern part of the country.
"Currently, the number of people who have died on the Cuenca-Molleturo highway has risen to 14, and the number of injured has risen to 29," Ecuador's emergency services wrote on X.
Traffic accidents are among the most common causes of death in Ecuador; last year, over 2,000 people died in traffic accidents.
