AstraZeneca falls 8.5% after Wainua fails phase 3 study in rare disease trial

A phase 3 study conducted together with Ionis Pharmaceuticals shows that the drug Wainua did not meet its goals in treating heart problems in patients suffering from the rare transthyretin amyloidosis - also known as Skellefte disease.

Wainua injections are already used to treat problems related to the disease, which damages nerves and organs through misfolded proteins.
