Osbourne grew up in Aston in Birmingham and it was at Villa Park that he held his last concert with his Black Sabbath as recently as July 5. The "Back to the beginning" performance became Osbourne's last. He passed away, 76 years old, surrounded by his family.

"A music legend, Ozzy's impact on entertainment and culture was deep and undisputed, his legacy will live on", writes Aston Villa in a statement where they emphasize Osbourne's special connection to the club and the area he came from.

"The thoughts of everyone at Aston Villa are with his wife Sharon, his family, friends and countless fans in this extremely difficult time. Rest in peace, Ozzy", the club writes further.
