Asllani: The European Championship will be my last championship

First, Sweden qualified for the European Championship. Then, Kosovare Asllani revealed that the championship in Switzerland next year will be her last in her career. It's a long way to the next, so I won't keep going, says the 35-year-old.

Sweden rolled over Serbia with 6–0 at home at Tele2 Arena and 8–0 overall in the playoff to the European Championship in Switzerland next year. Extra nice with another championship summer for a veteran like Kosovare Asllani, who made her debut in the European Championship in 2009.

It will be important. I think it will also be my last championship. One has always wanted to take gold with Sweden and it's an open road for many national teams to grab it. And we are definitely one of the candidates.

You've made up your mind – is it the last one?

It's a long way to the next one, so I won't keep going on. So yes, says Asllani.

After the European Championship this summer, the World Championship 2027 in Brazil is the next championship.

I feel that I've been around for so long and it's a long way to the next championship. I only have focus on the European Championship now.

It doesn't depend on whether the body or the knee says no.

I think one will always think it's fun. Which is weird. One waits for one to lose motivation, but one hasn't done that. It's just a choice one makes, says Asllani, who is noted for 192 international caps and 47 goals.
