For Åskag, it was six centimeters that were missing to reach Camilla Johansson's 25-year-old triple jump record of 14.12 meters. Åskag's 14.06 was enough for a clear victory in the Nordic competition in Finnish Esbo – and was above the qualification limit for both the indoor European Championship and the indoor World Championship later this spring.
It was the first time in her career that the 22-year-old jumped longer than 14 meters indoors.
"It was a good series and feeling, but I still feel that there is so much more. I dare not say how long the fourth attempt was, but it would definitely have been a Swedish record by quite a bit", she says to the Swedish Athletics Association's website.
Henrik Larsson ran 60 meters in 6.54 in Düsseldorf. The winning time was a hundredth of a second slower than the 25-year-old Göta sprinter's own Swedish record, which he set when winning the bronze at the indoor European Championship in Istanbul two years ago.
