The stock exchanges in Asia are rising after the US central bank Federal Reserve (Fed) lowered the interest rate by 0.25 percentage points on Wednesday.

The Fed message was expected, but despite that, it is steadily going up for the Japanese Nikkei 225 index, which at lunchtime had climbed 1.1 percent. Also, the broader Topix index increased, by 0.6 percent.

Shanghai's composite index is up 0.4 percent, while Shenzhen's same index increases 0.6 percent.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index is fluctuating around zero.
