On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Nikkei 225 is up 1.0 percent while the broader Topix rises 0.9 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is up 0.6 percent while Shanghai and Shenzhen rise by 0.2 and 0.9 percent respectively.
