Several of the indices in Asia are rising in Monday-morning trading. The Tokyo Stock Exchange, among others, is having a good day, with increases of around 1 percent.

After a few days characterized by movements around zero, several of the major Asian stock markets are climbing on Friday.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose just over 1.0 percent in connection with the budget announcement from the Japanese government. The broader Topix climbed 0.5 percent.

In China, price movements are somewhat more cautious. Shenzhen rose by 0.2 percent while Shanghai declined by the same figure.

South Korea's Kospi rose 0.6 percent.

The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is closed due to a public holiday.
