Asian stock markets rise broadly as South Korea’s Kospi rebounds

South Korea's Kospi has had a volatile past year. This week appears to be no exception, with the index reversing clear declines at the start of the week to post a 2.5 percent gain on Wednesday.

One of the giants of the South Korean stock market, Samsung Electronics, is up 2.5 percent.

The stock market in Tokyo, Japan, is also rising. Both the Nikkei 225 and Topix are climbing 0.6 percent.

In China, Shenzhen is up 1.3 percent and Shanghai is up 0.8 percent. Hong Kong's Hang Seng is also up 0.8 percent.
