Asian stock markets rise as China memory giant CXMT surges on AI wave

After a somewhat quieter weekend around the Strait of Hormuz, several stock markets are rising at the open on Monday.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 climbed 0.2 percent, while the broader Topix rose 1.0 percent.

Stock markets are also rising in China. Chip and memory manufacturer CXMT was listed on Monday in Shanghai and immediately surged by a whopping 470 percent, according to CNBC. The Shanghai stock exchange as a whole is rising by 0.3 percent. In Shenzhen, the stock exchange is rising by 1.2 percent.

The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is also climbing - up 0.8 percent.

The Kospi in South Korea has a cloudier trading day, losing 0.6 percent.
