Japan's Nikkei 225 index is up 0.4 percent, while the broader Topix is up 1.6 percent. South Korea's Kospi is also up 1.6 percent.
On the Chinese mainland, Shanghai climbed 1.0 percent and Shenzhen 0.3 percent. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.5 percent.
