All major exchanges were open and it went best on the South Korean Kospi which was up 2.7 percent. The Japanese Nikkei 225 index was virtually unchanged around lunchtime, while the broader Topix rose 0.7 percent.
Shenzhen also showed positive figures and had in the initial trading risen by about 0.4 percent.
It went worse on the Hong Kong-based Hang Seng which had fallen 1.1 percent.
