Last week's last trading day ended with record levels on the New York stock exchange after the week's message from the US central bank about the year's first interest rate cut.
The Japanese Nikkei 225 index follows the development, and had climbed 1.5 percent by lunchtime. Also the broader Topix index increased, by 0.9 percent.
Shanghai's composite index is up 0.1 and Shenzhen's same is up 0.3 percent.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index loses 0.7.
