South Korea's Kospi plunged 7.0 percent on Wednesday morning, after chip giants SK Hynix and Samsung were once again pressured by concerns that the AI investment boom may be about to slow down.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei 225 index is down 1.0 percent, while the broader Topix index is bucking the trend and rising 0.1 percent.

In China, the Shanghai index is down 0.3 percent, while the Shenzhen index is down 0.2 percent.

However, the Hong Kong-based Hang Seng index is up 1.7 percent.
