Asian stock markets mixed after Iran news as Chinese indices fall

Sources say that U.S. Vice President JD Vance is due to travel to Pakistan on Tuesday for new peace talks, while Iran threatens to play new cards on the battlefield in the war. Stock markets in Asia are reacting in different ways to the news.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose 1.3 percent at lunchtime, while the broader Topix climbed 0.3 percent. South Korea's Kospi rose 2.0 percent in early Tuesday trading.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.1 percent, while Shanghai was down 0.3 percent and Shenzhen was down 0.6 percent.
