The stock markets are following the negative figures on Wall Street on Thursday, where several leading indexes fell after the conflict in the Middle East escalated further and oil prices rose sharply.

Japan's Nikkei 225 is one of the biggest losers in early trading, down 2.8 percent, while the broader Topix is down 1.1 percent.

The mood in China is also negative. Shenzhen is down 2.2 percent and Shanghai is down 1.8 percent.

South Korea's Kospi and Hong Kong's Hang Seng are also falling, down 2.4 and 1.0 percent respectively.
