One of the biggest losses was Japan's Topix, down 1.5 percent. The Nikkei 225 fell slightly less, down 0.9 percent.
It is also down in South Korea, where the Kospi is down 0.4 percent.
China's Shenzhen is one of the few gainers in Tuesday trading, up 0.3 percent. However, Shanghai is also down 0.2 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng also fell, by 0.6 percent. There, e-commerce giant Shein, which was recently listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, lost more than 11 percent after the company on Tuesday presented worse-than-expected results for the first half of the year.
