The second day of Christmas week began cautiously upward on Asian stock markets.
China's Shenzhen had risen by 0.7 percent at lunchtime, while the Shanghai Composite Index showed an increase of 0.3 percent.
Japan's Nikkei 225 was unchanged from yesterday's close after an initial rise. The broader Topix rose 0.4 percent.
Both South Korea's Kospi and Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.2 percent.
